This summer will be our sixth year shooting portraits in lovely Destin, FL.  Over the years we’ve gotten used to a few of our favorite sights:  The Old Bay Steamer, The Backporch Grill, San Destin, Pretty Please Children’s Boutique, etc.  We’re glad to always stay in our “summer home,” a condo at Destin Gulfgate.

I wouldn’t say that he’s one of my favorite Destin “sights,” but Brad the Beachguy is a heckuva guy.  This is the guy who runs the beach service [umbrellas and chairs] for our condo.

I almost feel sorry for the guy.  Every year we see him, and Sheree loudly comments how much better-looking I am than Brad.  He’s begged and begged me to tell him my arduous workout regimen, but it won’t help.

“Sorry, Brad, but genetics are working against you,” I sadly explain. “Mine is a God-given physique, and it takes many, many calories to mantain it.”

Truth be told, I just don’t think he has a fraction of my focused discipline.  He’ll probably look this way the rest of his life.  Sigh.

Since he’s a buddy, I felt like I had to help him a little last summer.  While he will likely never look like me, at least he can surf like me.  I gave him a few pointers, and he seemed to do okay.  We Arkansans are known for our surfing prowess.  Take about 30 seconds to preview his slideshow, then post your comments.  He probably still feels bad, living in my shadow like he does.  Type him a note to lift him up.

Sorry, no comments yet.
