As you may or may not know, our family is in Destin, Florida, right now. We’re having a great time shooting portraits here on the white sands. Stay tuned for some fun slideshows on the blog.

In the meantime, let me give you an update on Harrison–the aforementioned “King of the Handsome Boys.” [see the blog, "Warning--Extreme Handsome Enclosed"]

Harrison loves animals. I mean–he REALLY loves animals. A lot. He catches lizards in our backyard EVERYDAY that he’s home. He’ll tote the reptile around, give it a name and lots of kisses [even after receiving a lizard bite on the chin]. He’ll excitedly snatch up a worm from the garden and exclaim: “Look! It’s one of God’s creatures!”

Harrison, I’m sad to report, saw a sad reality of the circle of life today. We went to the docks where charter boats dock with the catch of the day. Harrison, like the rest of the family, loves eating seafood. Harrison, like most 4-year-olds, didn’t know where we get seafood. Now he knows.

Harrison and the other kids were so excited to see the fishes hauled in from the catch! Harrison stayed excited . . . until he learned what happens to the fish after reaching the dock.

Harrison’s response to the “fillet incident:”

Soon thereafter, we heard the rumor: “Down the docks, someone pulled in a 400 pound shark!” No way would I miss seeing that! We all bolted down the way, and I fearlessly led my children to pet a real, honest to goodness shark!!!!

[As you can tell from the photos, it's not too scary to pet this variety of shark; i.e., the dead kind]. Harrison studied the shark intently. Finally, as we left, Harrison summarized:

“I think that shark is sad.”
